What We Can Engrave
Most metal jewelry and gift items can be engraved, as long as the piece fits within our engraving machine. The items we work on most frequently include:
- charms
- backs of watches
- insides of rings
- trays

Because engraving cuts into the surface of the metal, a plated item will expose the base metal beneath the plating once the lettering is cut. We point this out before we begin, so a plated piece never disappoints you after the work is finished.
The only reliable way to confirm that a piece will accept engraving is to position it in the machine. In most cases we can tell you while you wait whether your item can be accommodated.
Block, Script, and Monogram Lettering
You select the lettering style best suited to both the piece and the message it carries. Block lettering reads clearly and withstands the constraints of tight spaces such as the interior of a ring, while script offers a softer, more traditional appearance appropriate for names and wedding vows. A monogram consolidates initials into a single mark, which works particularly well on trays, cups, and broader flat surfaces.

Yes. You do not need to have bought the piece from us. Bring in what you own, and as long as it fits our machine and the metal engraves cleanly, we will go over your options and give you a quote.
How long does jewelry engraving take?
Most jobs are completed within about a week. Expedited requests are often possible, so mention your deadline when you bring the piece in.
Can plated jewelry be engraved?
Yes, although engraving cuts through the plating and exposes the base metal beneath it, which is why we will explain how the result will appear on your particular piece before we begin.
Can you engrave the inside of a ring or the back of a watch?
Both rank among the pieces we engrave most often, as long as the surface fits within our machine.
Is engraving permanent?
Because engraving cuts into the metal, it is made to endure. Years of steady wear can soften the lines on a piece handled constantly, but the inscription will never wash away or rub off.
