Cuervo y Sobrinos

the storied Latin past

  • Devotees include Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill, Einstein, Caruso, Clark Gable and Gary Cooper, who shopped and drank at the Cuervo y Sobrinos boutique when it was the toast of Havana in its pre-revolution glory days.
  • Founded  in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos (Cuervo & Nephews) rivaled Cartier in stature and glamour in pre-1950s Cuba, as the family sourced Germany for metal and precious stones, Paris for jewelry, and Switzerland for watch making.
  • As Cuba fell into political turmoil, the boutique closed, the family locked all valuables in the safe, and left the island. The brand all but vanished… yet all was not lost…

Cuervo y Sobrinos

Resurrection of a Legend

  • In the early 2000’s, Mr. Marzio Villa of Italy bought the brand. The safe in Havana was re-opened at last, revealing all the original designs and the Golden Book of guests signed by a multitude of luminaries from before the revolution.
  • In 2003, Mr. Villa reintroduced the brand to the world, with designs inspired by the drawings from the safe, resurrecting Cuervo y Sobrino’s association with the bold and the beautiful, along with its sponsorship of vintage Ferrari race cars.

  • is well-traveled, with an appreciation for international culture, engineering as an art, and vintage race cars. A man who’d be at home at the Cuervo y Sobrinos Cup, an international rally from Milan to the heart of the Alps, across Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
  • has a certain “savoir-vivre,” who’s comfortable rubbing shoulders with fellow Cuervo y Sobrinos owners, such as Antonio Banderas, Andy Garcia, or His Royal Highness Vittorio Emanuele, the Prince of Naples. You know, guys like that.
